Westminster Abbey artefact support structures

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries : Artefact Display Support Structures

Project scope : detailed design + manufacture + installation

High above the floor of Westminster Abbey, located in the 13th century triforium (a gallery above a church’s arches), are the newly created Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries. Some of the national treasures now on display have been hidden from public view for over 700 years and include England’s oldest surviving altarpiece, a Henry VII effigy head.

There are over 300 historical artefacts on display which are regularly rotated with other artefacts from the Abbey’s vast collection and each artefact has a bespoke display support structure, carefully detailed & designed in a combination of metal and stone.  These display structures, ranging from bench supports, to stained glass supports, to portrait supports, were an honour to detail and design in accordance with specifications provided by the Architect.
