Louis Vuitton halo glass floors
65mm Thk Halo Glass Laminated Floors
Project scope : detailed design + manufacture + installation
Louis Vuitton’s Townhouse store-in-store in Selfridges was opened with a unique rotating circular glass elevator which effortlessly connected 3 floors of Louis Vuitton Collections. Two of the floor levels were equipped with cantilevered halo glass floors surrounding the circular lift shaft using 65mm thick laminated glass panels with shaped and sloping ends to meet the sweep of the helix furniture. The laminated glass panels consisted of 5 layers of glass with the top layer being the non-slip Lunaris ‘T’.
The largest halo glass panels weighed 360 kgs which required careful attention to handling and lifting during the installation phase. The detailing and design of this project was a challenging undertaking on a project regarded by many in the glass industry as extremely complex. The cantilevering halo glass panels were held in heavy duty hidden stainless steel clamps which in turn were secured to the concrete slab base.
